Your evening is their early morning, so calls get squeezed in between everything else.
When you do talk, it's ten rushed minutes, and half of them are about the bad connection.
And "everything's fine" is all you hear, even when you can't tell if it is.
How it works
1. You set it up
Tell us who your parent or grandparent is, the language they're most at home in, and the best time to call.
2. Nitya calls every day
On WhatsApp, which they already use. There's no app to install, and the screen shows "Nitya", not an unknown number.
3. You get a summary
Their mood, their health, what's on their mind, and an alert straight away if something sounds wrong.
Try it yourself
Opening soon
Soon you'll be able to play the parent: Nitya calls you on WhatsApp, chats for a few minutes, and then shows you the summary your family would receive, written from your own call.
Until then, listen to a short sample call in Hindi.
What they talk about
Whatever your parent enjoys. Nitya asks, listens, and remembers.
How the day is going
Meals and cooking
A morning walk
Medicines
Family news
Festivals
Old songs and stories
Each call picks up where the last one left off: the knee that hurt on Tuesday, the grandchild's exam, the neighbour's wedding.
What you receive
After every call, a short summary by WhatsApp or email. This one is an example.
Maa · Tuesday
7-minute call · 8:15 in the morning, her time
Mood
Cheerful and chatty
Health
Her knee is better than yesterday. She walked to the park in the evening.
Medicines
Took her morning tablets after breakfast.
On her mind
Priya visits next week, and she's planning aloo parathas.
Alerts
Nothing worrying today.
Next call
Ask how the knee feels after the walk, and about plans for Priya's visit.
If something sounds wrong, such as a fall, chest pain, or sounding very low, you get an alert at once, and so does a local contact you choose.
A call, in their words
From a sample call in Hindi. Nitya remembers yesterday's conversation and follows up.

Nitya
Namaste Maa! It's Nitya. How was your morning?
Maa
Oh, namaste beta! It was good. I've just sat down after my puja.
Nitya
Yesterday you mentioned your knee pain. How is it today?
Maa
A little better today. I even walked to the park in the evening.
Nitya
Oh, wonderful! And did you take your morning medicine?
Maa
Yes, after breakfast. And guess what, Priya is coming next week!
Nitya
Oh, how lovely! What will you make for her?
Maa
Her favourite aloo parathas, what else!
In the language they think in
नमस्ते · Hello · ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ
Nitya speaks Hindi, English and Kannada, and keeps up when your parent mixes them, as most of us do.

Honest, safe and private
Always honest that it's an AI
Nitya says it is an AI assistant set up by your family. Your parent agrees to the calls before they start, and can stop them at any time.
Not a medical or emergency service
Nitya doesn't give medical advice. If something sounds urgent, it asks your parent to call 112 and alerts the local contact you choose.
Your family's data stays yours
Stored in the EU, never sold, never used for advertising, and deleted whenever you ask.
Questions families ask
Is it a real person?
No. Nitya is an AI companion, and it says so at the start of every call and whenever it's asked. During the pilot, our small team reads call transcripts to check that every call is kind, safe and useful.
Does my parent need a smartphone?
They need WhatsApp on their phone, which most smartphones in India already have. There's nothing else to install or set up: they just answer the call.
Can I set it up for my grandparents?
Yes. Nitya can call a parent, a grandparent, or both grandparents, and you choose how it addresses them.
What if they don't answer?
Nitya tries again a little later. If two days in a row go by without a call, it lets you know.
What does it cost?
The pilot is free. We'll tell you about pricing well before the pilot ends, and nothing is ever charged without your agreement.
Which countries can I sign up from?
Anywhere. Most families on the waitlist live in the US, the UK, Canada, the EU, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East or Southeast Asia. The person Nitya calls needs to live in India.
How is our data handled?
Everything is stored in the EU. Call audio is deleted after 30 days, and you can delete all of your family's data at any time. We never sell data or use it for advertising. Our privacy policy has the details.
